    @breezebro You are right, French doors can be stand alone or double doors. Any dictionary will show this.

    Actually French doors are definded by how they attach in the middle. It is true that normally you would see a french door setup having glass in the panels but really it just means that both doors open with no mullion (astragal) remaining in the middle so that you are left with a bigger unobstructed opening.

    Those are just regular ole double doors. French doors ave glass panels in them. The old one looked much better. You should have removed the threshold.
